The transition to OSU
Be sure to take advantage of OSU's three-step approach to welcoming and orienting new students who enter fall term.
You will receive information about participating in START, the first step in OSU’s commitment to new students. START is the summer registration and advising program that is required of all new students. START is a great way to learn about Oregon State and the OSU student experience.
The second step in the orientation process is OSU CONNECT. This five-day orientation program is designed to help with the adjustment to OSU life during the first few days on campus. The week includes over 200 academic and social programs where you’ll have the opportunity to meet and interact with other new and current students in addition to faculty and staff.
OSU ODYSSEY is the third step in your orientation to Oregon State. In OSU ODYSSEY, you’ll meet regularly with about 20 other transfer students as you work with a student leader on such issues as academic success, positive relationships with faculty and students, career and academic direction, and shared values of the OSU community. It’s a great opportunity to get personal attention and advice from an experienced OSU student.
If you are admitted for fall term
• START, OSU’s summer advising and registration program, is a great way to register and learn more about life at OSU. You will have the opportunity to attend a START program designed specifically for transfer and dual enrollment students.
• You may also choose to register at a make up START session during OSU CONNECT, the week before classes begin.
If you are admitted for winter or spring term
• An newsletter with orientation and registration information will be sent out prior to the registration period.
• Advising will be offered on an appointment-only basis through individual colleges.
• On the first day of class there will be a reception to welcome you to the University and connect you with other new and current students in addition to faculty and staff.
Each DPP partner school may approach orientation differently. Below are the specifics of OSU’s partner schools.
