Events

There is always something going on at OSU-special lectures, concerts, cultural events, plays, art exhibits, PAC-10 sports, festivals, even fireside chats with President Ed Ray. Parents are welcome to join their students at any number of events throughout the year. Come visit!

Convocation

Convocation is a formal, festive assembly to welcome the newest members of the OSU community. In September, President Ed Ray joins with student leaders, faculty, and staff at the Memorial Union Quad to walk, for the first time as a class of students, to Gill Coliseum for the New Student Convocation.

Commencement

Commencement is held at the end of the academic year in mid-June. The first OSU commencement was held in 1870, with three graduates — today, more than 4,000 graduating students are invited to take part. Families and friends are an important part of this celebratory event, where the university recognizes the achievements of its most recent graduating class and formally sends its graduates on to their next step in life.

Dad's Weekend

Every fall, fathers (and other family members) converge on campus for Dad's Weekend. The event is coordinated by students in the MU Program Council, and features three full days of activities — Pac-10 football, outdoor adventure trips, campus tours, movies, a casino night, a comedy show at Gill Coliseum featuring a nationally known entertainer, and much more.

Mom's Weekend

Each spring, students can take a break from studying and enjoy sharing their life on campus with their moms. OSU is beautiful in the spring, and the campus comes alive for Mom's Weekend. Join in on the activities —a fashion show, tea and scones, photo sessions with your child, spring sports, campus tours, working out at the Dixon Rec Center, a featured show at Gill Coliseum, and much more.

Homecoming

Homecoming is a great chance for alumni to return to their alma mater for a celebration of community, lifelong learning, and school spirit. The fall weekend features Pac-10 football, class reunions, the traditional bonfire, classes-without-quizzes, college programs, and presentations by the year's distinguished Alumni Fellows. Parents of current students, whether alums or not, are welcomed to join in all of the public festivities.

Campus Calendar

The campus calendar is a great resource for finding out what's going on at OSU, at the Corvallis campus, Cascades Campus, the Hatfield Marine Science Center, and other OSU facilities throughout the state.
