The full academic calendar will provide you with the dates for term breaks and other events that are significant in your student's academic schedule.
The Academic Success Center supports services that help ensure the academic success of all students at OSU, including advising undeclared students, tutoring, academic success courses, first-year experience, career development, and information and referral. The welcoming new center also serves as the hub for efficient and vital connections to advisors, the learning centers, the colleges, and the new Center for Teaching and Learning.
Encourage your student to stay in contact with their academic advisor. Having a continual relationship with an advisor will help to ensure your student will complete his or her degree in a reasonable amount of time. If they do not know who to contact, encourage them to call the main office within their major. A list of college advising office phone numbers is provided as a helpful resource. For more information on academic advising, visit the Academic Success site.
OSU offers more than 200 academic programs. You can find the complete list of academic majors and minors. Does your child want to explore a bit more before choosing a major? The University Exploratory Studies Program allows students to sample a variety of courses and fields before declaring their major.
Learn about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and how it relates to your student's educational records. If you have questions about the access restrictions FERPA imposes, you can call Tom Watts, Associate Registrar (541-737-4048) or Caroline Kerl, Legal Advisor (541-737-2474).
The Office of the Registrar provides information on academic regulations, registering for classes, fees, transcripts, access to student records, and Commencement.
