The Benton County Health Department is investigating a suspected norovirus outbreak at an OSU sorority, and has isolated 10 Delta Gamma members inside their house. An OSU fraternity also may have several students sick from an outbreak of the illness. Authorities urge vigilant hand washing and cleaning of household surfaces to prevent spread of the illness.
The writers strike is raging, stymying the small screen. But movie lovers can cross the picket line anytime they want to see what is new at the theater. At the cinemas, everything from big-budget monster movies to independent award winners are on tap between now and April -- typically a sluggish time of year at the box office. "This used to be a dead zone for Hollywood," Cinema Journal editor and OSU Professor Jon Lewis said. "January and February used to be the times when the studios would dump the films that they didn't think would go anywhere, but this year is the exception."
OSU instructor Wanda Crannell carried an armful of sports coats and blouses into the basement of the Agriculture and Life Sciences Building and placed them in cold storage, next to 200 other items of dress clothing. “We’re about 20 percent there,” Crannell said. She’s hoping hundreds more “gently-used” shirts, skirts and ties will be donated by early February. Contributions are off to a slower start this year for the annual Career Makeover Wardrobe Event, which is scheduled for Feb. 13 in the Memorial Union Ballroom at OSU. For the third year, students who attend can buy business attire on the cheap to wear to job fairs scheduled for the following week.

Enhanced Classrooms Computer Log In Change: Due to concerns raised of possible risk to the security of classroom/student lists, there will no longer be a “local” computer login in enhanced classrooms. Each instructor will need to use his/her ONID or departmental login to access departmental shared drives. Initial loading of the shared drive will take about five minutes, but should only occur the first time the drive is initialized. Instructors will need to be logged out of the shared drives in their offices to access those drives in classrooms. All instructions at the stations have been updated to reflect this change, and each instructor requesting a code will receive an updated version of the instructions. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, contact your departmental computer advisor or Diane Cooper at Media Services, 737-2120, or
