Oregon State University returning to College World Series (OPB)

Oregon State is going back to the College World Series in Omaha. Bryce Fehmel turned in a sterling performance on the mound, KJ Harrison supplied the power with a three-run homer, and No. 1 national seed OSU rolled to a 9-2 victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday at sold-out Goss Stadium to wrap up the Corvallis Super Regional.

Reception to honor record number of science graduates: The College of Science is hosting an outdoor reception for all science graduating seniors, graduate students and their families Friday, June 16, from 4-5:30 p.m. on the Valley Library Quad in front of Kidder Hall. The College will graduate a record 629 students with baccalaureate degrees, a five percent increase from last year. All science faculty, staff and advisors are welcome to attend.

OSU Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan process.  OSU Emergency Management and OSU Capital Planning are developing a natural hazards mitigation plan for OSU.  The plan will summarize the vulnerability of OSU to natural hazards and identify risk reduction activities to decrease the vulnerability.  As plan chapters are developed, comments and input are welcome via the plan’s website.  Once the data analysis and the draft plan is fully developed, public meetings will be held to summarize the plan and seek additional comments.  Follow our progress and review draft chapters at http://emergency.oregonstate.edu/nhmp or email comments to emergency@oregonstate.edu

External Fees Updated:  Oregon State University will take written comments on its proposed updates to OSU Standard 576-010 University Fees through the end of business on Friday, June 23, 2017.  The purpose of the comment period is to receive public feedback regarding updates to the Spring 2017 external fees before they become effective on July 1, 2017.  The proposed fees can be reviewed at the Valley Library circulation desk, or electronically as a pdf upon request.  Comments or requests should be directed to Susan Barba at susan.barba@oregonstate.edu.

Girls OSU Summer Soccer Camp: Looking for some fun for your daughter over Summer Break… Then look no further. Traffic and Maintenance

Motor Pool lot: To facilitate the reconstruction and expansion of the gravel parking lot west of the Motor Pool along Campus Way, all parking stalls will be closed for the duration of the project within the lot, June 12 – Sept.  15. There will also be closures to the adjacent sidewalks and access aisles for limited duration.  The access aisle to the Radiation Center will remain open, or the project will accommodate special deliveries.  Clark Meat Lab access will be provided as coordinated with the building manager, with pedestrian paths communicated to the public in advance of events and for normal business.  General construction noise and dust will be present during the lot reconstruction.

Steam shutdown: Each year Facilities Services performs necessary maintenance on the university’s steam system, which requires shutting off the steam throughout campus, to complete maintenance services at the plant, throughout the steam tunnels and in each building.  This process affects hot water supply, heating, and all equipment that uses steam, campus wide.  The steam shutdown for 2017 will occur June 18, 6 p.m. – June 26, 8 a.m.
