OSU’s Ecampus named best online value in nation (KEZI)

Oregon State University’s Ecampus is named the nation’s best value in online education. ValueColleges.com released its “Top 50 Best Value Online Colleges for 2017.” The ranking assesses online Bachelor’s programs based on tuition costs, reputation, and return on investments.

Todd Stansbury leaves Oregon State to become Georgia Tech’s athletic director (Oregonian)

While much of the West Coast was waking up on Thursday morning, Todd Stansbury was in Atlanta sporting a black suit, gold tie and gold “GT” pin, speaking about coming “back home.” After a little more than a year as the athletic director at Oregon State, Stansbury has taken the same position at his alma mater, Georgia Tech. Turns out, there are generally seven ways in which people quit their jobs, and there are two key factors that determine whether a person resigns in a positive way or in a way that could have damaging consequences for the business, new research from Oregon State University shows.

Johnson Hall Grand Opening: The Oregon State community launches a new era for the College of Engineering at OSU with the dedication of Johnson Hall, a state-of-the-art, $40 million, 60,000-square-foot facility for research and instruction. Ceremony starts at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at S.W. Park Terrace Place and Monroe Avenue.

NEW! OSU Football vs. Boise State Saturday, Sept. 24, 12:30 a.m. kickoff: At 7 a.m. this Saturday, several campus parking lots are reserved for the football game. Please see the attached map to see which lots (colored orange) are affected. These lots will be cleared for donors and any car left will be towed at the owners expense. Thank you for your assistance and understanding. The same will apply to all home games. You may park your car in other lots if you need to leave it or are working that day.

In conjunction with the UN International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, Peter Bergel will discuss peace, nuclear weapons and citizen diplomacy. Toxicology Conference:  The Annual Pacific Northwest Toxicology (PANWAT) Conference focused on “New Technologies in Toxicology and Environmental Health” is being held at OSU Sept. 29-30.  The OSU community is invited to learn about exciting new technologies and approaches in toxicology and environmental health research.  The OSU Environmental and Molecular Toxicology Department and Superfund Research Center will provide free registration for the first 25 undergraduate and 25 graduate student requests from OSU. NEW! Conversation partners sought: The Cultural Ambassador Conversant Program (CACP) is looking for volunteers for Fall Term. Domestic students, staff/faculty, community members, and anyone with a native or high level of English proficiency can be connected with INTO OSU and other international students to promote cultural awareness and competence and language skills. Volunteers are paired with an international student looking to improve their English skills and become more familiar with the culture of OSU. 2016-17 Beaver Bus Route: Full service begins on Wednesday, Sept. 21. One of the two buses on the West route has been reoriented to run opposite of the other bus on a new West 2 route. Two new stops have been added to northbound 30th Street, one near the Oak Creek Building, and one near the West Dorm Halls, and another stop has been added on eastbound Jefferson Way in front of Buxton/Hawley. The West 2 route will share its remaining stops with the other routes. An app is available from the Google Play and Apple app stores to track the Beaver Buses on campus. Traffic and Maintenance

Hwy 20 Eddyville project update:  To maintain the construction schedule, contractors need to adjust closure dates and times.  The highway will be closed at night Wednesday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 15, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. This new closure time schedule will continue Saturdays through Thursday nights thereafter, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. The highway will remain open on Fridays.
