The College of Forestry is holding its annual Book Sale this week, Feb. 15-19, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Richardson Hall First Floor Knuckle (where Richardson meets Peavy). An Oregon State University graduate who was born in a California detainment camp for Japanese-Americans during World War II will return to campus on Friday, Feb. 19, where she will show an award-winning documentary she produced about her parents. Satsuki Ina is executive producer of “From a Silk Cocoon,” which received a regional Emmy and several other awards. It will be shown at the Joyce Powell Leadership/Journey Room in the Memorial Union beginning at 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public; a discussion will follow the film.

Participating buildings have reduced their electricity consumption by over 10,750 kWh during the first two weeks of the Challenge, saving over $550 in utility costs! A new Sea Grant Summer Scholars program is accepting undergraduate applicants who’d like to get an inside look at marine
science and resource management careers by spending the summer working on a marine science project for a state or local agency. Oregon Sea
Grant plans to select five or more Summer Scholars, each of whom will spend 10 weeks this summer working with a marine research, outreach,
education or public policy agency or institution in Oregon. Potential projects range from collecting and analyzing biological data to

The OSU Student Sustainability Initiative Fee Board has created a new financing mechanism for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects on campus. The Fee Board is now accepting applications for the Sustainable Energy Revolving Loan Fund, for projects that reduce campus buildings’ reliance on non-renewable energy. The loan rate is 2.55% and applications are due 5 p.m. Feb.24. Minimum loan amount is $5,000 and a maximum of $100,000 is available for all applicants. Park Terrace: Due to excavation in the west parking lot on Park Terrace, the motorcycle spaces to the east of the 26th St. substation will be temporarily closed. This shutdown will begin at 7 a.m. today and will continue until noon.
Heat Plant: Due to the investigation of an underground storage tank, the parking lot on the east of the Heat Plant will be temporarily shut down and is to be free of all vehicles. The shutdown will begin at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 22, and end by 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23.
Burt Hall: Due to necessary repairs on the building steam system, all steam services to Burt Hall will be temporarily shutdown. This will affect all hot water and heating services throughout the building. This shutdown will begin at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 19 and end by 11 a.m.
