PROMISE sponsors sought: Applications are currently being sought for PROMISE sponsors. PROMISE is a 10-week developmental internship program designed to provide professional, managerial, or technical paid work experience and mentoring in the state, local government agencies, and university programs for Oregon State University undergraduate students. The program runs June 23 – Aug. 29. The internship project is a limited-duration project of a professional, managerial, or technical nature. The project must occupy the full 10-week internship period at 40 hours per week. The cost of the internship salary and other personnel expenses is $4,300. OSU departments and programs may request that up to half of the total cost be subsidized by the PROMISE program; the balance will be charged to the departmental index. Of particular interest to OSU students is HB 4021: Instate Tuition Rates for Nonresident Veteran Graduate Students. This bill directs public universities to charge a nonresident veteran, who is graduate student, instate rates for tuition and fees. Veteran must have honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions and provide proof of physical presence in Oregon within 12 months of enrollment. Applies to veterans admitted as new graduate students, but not continuing graduate students, on or after Sept. 15, 2014. Summer Research Internships at Branch Experiment Stations. The Branch Experiment Stations (BES) for the College of Agricultural Sciences are pleased to announce 10-week experiential learning opportunities for any Oregon State University undergraduate students. The Branch Experiment Stations are off-campus research facilities located across Oregon assisting stakeholders to address the critical issues specific to that locale. Successful applicants will be provided $6,000 to offset expenses. University Chorale: University Chorale is a conducting lab for choral students, and we need you to be their choir! New Vice Provost for Student Affairs: Susie Brubaker-Cole will begin her appointment as Vice Provost for Student Affairs on July 1. She currently serves as Associate Provost for Academic Success and Engagement at OSU. Previously, she served as Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Stanford University.

Traffic and maintenance
26th Street closure: Due to tree maintenance being done, intermittent traffic lane and sidewalk closures will occur March 18-21, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will also affect the ADA parking spaces and the services spaces on the west side of the MU Quad. Flaggers will permit transit and emergency vehicles through the area.
Waldo Place/Valley Library Loading Dock: Due to construction on the Student Experience Center, Waldo Place and the Valley Library loading dock will be closed March 22-30, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ralph Miller Drive closure: Due to landscape/hardscape improvements being made on the south side of Gill Coliseum, parking along the north side of Ralph Miller Drive will be closed March 5- May 23. Also, portions of parking along the west side of Gill Coliseum will be closed at times to accommodate additional work.
15th and Washington: Due to construction at Washington and 15th, pedestrians are asked to cross the street one block south at 15th and A streets.
Benton Place Street and Parking Changes: During the Washington Way Realignment construction project (March 2014 – September 2014), Benton Place will be changed to two-way traffic. This change will provide temporary two-way connection between Jefferson St. and Washington Way, to alleviate congestion caused by the closure of 15th Street. Benton Place is located just west of Kerr Administration and McAlexander Fieldhouse. At the conclusion of the project, Benton Place striping will be restored to its existing one way northbound configuration.
