Oregon State University - Network Engineering - Configuring Outlook Client

Configuring the Outlook Client (MAPI)

The Outlook client in corporate mode uses MAPI to access the Exchange server. MAPI supports collaboration features such as calendaring and appointment scheduling that are not available in other e-mail clients.

Outlook is available on the Microsoft Office CD or at: \\melvin\Outlook2K (Windows version)

Note: Be sure to configure Outlook for "Corporate mode" and NOT for "Internet mode" - Internet mode does not support MAPI. To find out which mode Outlook is in, choose Tools - Options - Mail Services and click on "Reconfigure Mail Support". If the client is not already in Corporate Mode, you can change the setting on that screen.

To configure the Outlook client in mapi mode, you will need to know the following information:

    Server name: mapi.oregonstate.edu
Mailbox name: (the user's full name)

For step-by-step instructions on configuring the various versions of the Outlook client, please see the IS Computer Consulting documentation:
