Budding marine scientists gather mole crabs on Yaquina Bay during HMSC summer science camp

The Sea Grant Marine Education Program at OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport gives youngsters from preschool through high school hands-on experience with ocean and coastal science through a year-round series of age-appropriate day camps, field trip opportunities and other activities designed around rigorous science education standards.

The program also provides formal and informal programs for families - including the popular Oregon Coast Quests self-guided adventure, continuing education opportunities for teachers, and helps conduct such popular activities as public dissections. Some programs are offered online through a live, streaming ScienceCam, allowing classrooms far from the coast - or with limited field trip budgets - to take part in marine-science learning.
