Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences: Chemical Oceanography
Degree Sought:
M.S. in Chemical Oceanography
Research Adviser:
Dr. Burke Hales, Chemical Oceanography
Research Topic:
Development of Autonomous Drifting pCO2 System
Colleen Wall graduated from college with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2005, after which point she was comissioned in the U.S. Navy for six years as a gunnery and strike officer on a guided missile destoyer and as a nuclear engineer on an aircraft carrier. Wall's contract with the Navy ended last January and she has now returned for her graduate studies as part of Dr. Hales' lab group. Colleen has currently been working to design and build an autonomous drifting pCO2 system. Once built, this system will be deployable to various near ocean locations along the Oregon Coast. She has also been working with various pH and pCO2 sensors to set up multiple moorings on the NH line off of the Oregon Coast and in the Bering Strait.
