Ongoing investigation update
The ongoing investigation by Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division detectives, with the assistance of Corvallis Police Department and FBI, led investigators Friday to take into custody a juvenile male in connection to a threat directed Thursday at the Oregon State University campus on an Internet blog site.
On September 27, 2013, detectives took the 16-year old male into custody after follow up investigation identified him as a person of interest. The juvenile suspect’s name and residence, and the content of the threat, are not being released at this time because of the ongoing investigation. He is an Oregon resident who does not live in the Corvallis area.
The initial investigation indicated the online threat originated outside of the northwest, but investigative leads brought the focus back into Oregon. There is no known further potential threat.
