Technology Resources Fund [TRF]
Delay in Award of TRF Grants!
Due to the number of TRF proposals and the amount of funds requested, combined with the complexity of allocating funds among new projects, renewal of previously funded infrastructure, and strategic needs, announcements of TRF awards have been delayed. We apologize for this delay. We are actively working on the review of these proposals and the alignment of awards with the University's strategic priorities. We expect that this process will conclude and final allocations will be made by the end of May.
The deadline for providing signed copies of proposals has been extended to Friday, March 1, at 1:00 p.m.
Signed proposals can be submitted in print form or they can be scanned and e-mailed to david.barber@oregonstate.edu.
Due to an error in the TRF submission software, which we are unable to change, you may still be asked to submit a printed version. You do not need to do so if you would prefer to just scan and e-mail a signed copy of your proposal by the new deadline.
Lois Brooks, Vice Provost for Information Services, has released the Request for Proposals for the Fiscal Year 2014 (July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014) round of funding and invites the university community – academic units, administrative units and sponsored student organizations – to submit proposals. More than $7.5M will be available in fiscal year (FY) 2014 for projects that seek to support student success at OSU through improved access to information technology. In FY2013, nearly one hundred proposals were submitted and forty-two were funded. Past TRF grants have ranged from a few thousand dollars to $1.2M.
Two Types of Grants Available
This year’s RFP asks for proposals in two categories:
- Campus Wide Services – a restricted category in which proposals are invited for selected campus wide services.
- Open Funding – proposals to support student success through technology in other areas than those covered by the campus wide services.
Proposals are due February 26, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. Signed Proposals (in print form or scanned and sent through e-mail) are due by Friday, March 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Review of Proposals
Proposals will be reviewed by a committee of faculty, staff and student representatives that will make advisory recommendations to the University’s Instructional IT Committee and IT Infrastructure Committees and ultimately to the Vice Provost for Information Services who will make final funding determinations.
Reviewers will consider factors such as the following: alignment with the University’s strategic directions; evidence for the quality and likely effectiveness of pedagogy or service delivery models and their impact on student success; efficiency; commitment by the academic unit, administrative unit or supported student organization submitting the proposal; and sustainability of additional investments in TRF-funded infrastructure and services. See the FY14 RFP for more information on the grant criteria.
