The Oregon State University Board of Advisors, established in 1999, provides support and advice to the President of Oregon State University (OSU). By focusing on major strategic decisions of Oregon's premier research university, the Board of Advisors assists the University in identifying new opportunities. The Board also provides OSU with a clear understanding of the external environment in which the University operates, and identifies key stakeholders and potential partners to help the University achieve its strategic goals.
Board membership, which is determined by the OSU President, comprises exceptional leaders from many disciplines, including business, education, natural resources, government and journalism. The Board convenes formally two times a year. In addition, individual members frequently meet informally with the University President and other key leaders on or off campus to discuss issues of interest. One member is elected as the Coordinating Advisor who chairs the meetings and works with the President in defining the work of the Board.
Oregon State University is committed to affirmative action and equal opportunity in employment and education.
