In difficult times, it’s important to manage the things we control and to be mindful, but not traumatized, by the things we do not. Use this site to help you keep track of where OSU stands with regard to managing current and emerging budget issues.
- OSU President Ed Ray
I wanted to give you a progress report on how we are continuing to manage the ongoing funding challenges we face and on our efforts to ensure that we deliver the highest quality education to our students.
As you are aware, last October we issued a number of guidelines and asked colleges and major units at OSU to submit proposals for realigning the University to meet these ongoing challenges by the week of March 15.
Most units have submitted proposals for ways they will realign to advance OSU’s three signature areas and enhance student success while achieving efficiencies in structures, programs and personnel. The Strategic Alignment and Budget Reduction Review Committee (SABRR), is now reviewing the submissions. Over the next several weeks, SABRR will work with the units to get clarity on how the units align with the guidelines and ensure that there is congruence in what is proposed among all of the various colleges and divisions. Once the committee has completed its review, it will provide a final report to Provost Randhawa.
Our intention is to make decisions about next steps by the first week of June. These decisions will include plans for implementing the proposals, but may also require additional input or work from the unit.
In the meantime we will be carefully reviewing and considering the various proposals. During this time, you may hear of changes that may be, simply, proposals. Between now and June, we are very much a campus in continued discussion and conversation. This process will take time and we are committed to keep you informed regarding the timing and nature of decisions.
To stay updated, you can monitor the budget and realignment process through the pages on this site. Over time, final proposals will be posted here, in addition to other helpful information. Thank you for your ongoing interest, support and understanding as we forge ahead and make OSU even better and more competitive.
