Articulture Northwest Landscapes in Acrylics on CanvasMargaret Hay has lived in the Northwest for much of her life. Although travels take her to different vistas on the West Coast, by car, by train or by plane, Hay's muse is in the hills around Sweet Home, Oregon. Pegasus Gallery began showing Hay's work over a decade ago when she and Bill Shumway, fellow artist and gallery owner met. The language of Hay's work celebrated the scenes and emotions so many of us hold very dear and we travel through the Northwest or make Oregon our home. Hay works in acrylic on canvas. Her technique is a bit reminiscent of the Balinese tradtions in painting; honoring each subject with equal value and importance. No washed out foregrounds of abstractions of a tree; every leaf and rocky mountainside as important and substantial an ingredient in the visual story.

Artist's statement
"I believe that art in its many different forms is critical to a healthy community and I feel blessed that I live in one, the Willamette Valley. I have experimented with many different styles of art ranging from acrylic, pastel, and charcoal all the way to spray paint, airbrush, and paint pens.

Aqueous Media & Watercolor Exhibit - Featuring the WSO Touring ShowThe twenty award-winning paintings from the 46th annual Watercolor Society of Oregon Spring Aqueous Media Show are now on display at Giustina Gallery. The show, which was selected by nationally known artist, teacher, and juror Betsy Dillard Stroud, opened at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center in Eugene with 80 paintings chosen by Stroud in April, from which she picked the top twenty which will travel around the state. The Watercolor Society of Oregon, which was started by a small group of painters in 1965 now numbers upwards of 900 members, so being chosen for the shows is always a great honor, and being selected to be part of the traveling show a greater honor still.
Along with the WSO Touring show, we have on display accepted submissions for our Oregon Invitational Watercolor Exhibit by artists from all over Oregon.
The Aqueous Media show includes works in any water-based media: translucent watercolor, gouache, acrylic, inks, and collage using water-based elements.

Annual Cultural Art Show - Ancient AmericasWe wish to inspire all artists of 2012! This is a time to understand an ancient point of view of life and the world around us. Through art we, as well as our ancestors, explain what life is, how the world works, how we see the world as an individual, and express our ideas of what is beyond life. Art explains the unknown such as, where the sun comes, what happens after we die, what our passions are, what life itself is, and it also gives us viewpoints into things we cannot see.
This is an opportunity to show original and cultural art work based on a primitive outlook or an influence of the ancient Americas.
This is a collaborative show juried by Clark Studios, Pegasus, and Giustina Galleries.Show dates February 21 - March 26, 2012
