Articulture Northwest Landscapes in Acrylics on Canvas
Margaret Hay has lived in the Northwest for much of her life. Although travels take her to different vistas on the West Coast, by car, by train or by plane, Hay's muse is in the hills around Sweet Home, Oregon. Pegasus Gallery began showing Hay's work over a decade ago when she and Bill Shumway, fellow artist and gallery owner met. The language of Hay's work celebrated the scenes and emotions so many of us hold very dear and we travel through the Northwest or make Oregon our home. Hay works in acrylic on canvas. Her technique is a bit reminiscent of the Balinese tradtions in painting; honoring each subject with equal value and importance. No washed out foregrounds of abstractions of a tree; every leaf and rocky mountainside as important and substantial an ingredient in the visual story.

"I believe that art in its many different forms is critical to a healthy community and I feel blessed that I live in one, the Willamette Valley. I have experimented with many different styles of art ranging from acrylic, pastel, and charcoal all the way to spray paint, airbrush, and paint pens.
I'm passionate about local art and artists; I hope that everyone gets the opportunity to express their own art however they might do it."Thu, 05/12/2011 - 8:00am - Tue, 05/31/2011 - 5:00pmMurdock Gallery

Aqueous Media & Watercolor Exhibit - Featuring the WSO Touring Show
The twenty award-winning paintings from the 46th annual Watercolor Society of Oregon Spring Aqueous Media Show are now on display at Giustina Gallery. The show, which was selected by nationally known artist, teacher, and juror Betsy Dillard Stroud, opened at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center in Eugene with 80 paintings chosen by Stroud in April, from which she picked the top twenty which will travel around the state. The Watercolor Society of Oregon, which was started by a small group of painters in 1965 now numbers upwards of 900 members, so being chosen for the shows is always a great honor, and being selected to be part of the traveling show a greater honor still.
Along with the WSO Touring show, we have on display accepted submissions for our Oregon Invitational Watercolor Exhibit by artists from all over Oregon.
The Aqueous Media show includes works in any water-based media: translucent watercolor, gouache, acrylic, inks, and collage using water-based elements.Mon, 08/01/2011 - 8:00am - Tue, 08/30/2011 - 5:00pmGiustina GalleryWed, 08/10/2011 - 6:30pm - 8:30pmFree and open to the public.

Annual Cultural Art Show - Ancient Americas
We wish to inspire all artists of 2012! This is a time to understand an ancient point of view of life and the world around us. Through art we, as well as our ancestors, explain what life is, how the world works, how we see the world as an individual, and express our ideas of what is beyond life. Art explains the unknown such as, where the sun comes, what happens after we die, what our passions are, what life itself is, and it also gives us viewpoints into things we cannot see.
This is an opportunity to show original and cultural art work based on a primitive outlook or an influence of the ancient Americas.
This is a collaborative show juried by Clark Studios, Pegasus, and Giustina Galleries.

The 5th Annual Cultural Connections Exhibit: Pacific Island Culture
The variety of cultural diversity that dots the Pacific Ocean is overwhelming. There are 20,000 – 30,000 islands scattered throughout 64 million square miles of ocean. The vastness of the ocean and isolation of islands allowed many animals, plant life, and cultures to develop and thrive. The Pacific Island cultures are each unique and yet share a common feeling of dream-like paradise to people all over the world. All add wonderful color to the culture of humanity.
Some have similar cultures branching off to other islands and over the centuries others remained isolated and dramatically different.Tue, 02/11/2014 (All day) - Fri, 03/28/2014 (All day)Fri, 02/28/2014 - 6:30pm - 8:30pmMeet the artist reception held on February 28th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm Light appetizers will be served. Art About Agriculture 2014: Agricultural Bounty and Community in the City and the Town
Welcome to the College of Agricultural Sciences' Art About Agriculture
Art About Agriculture encourages artists to investigate the visual resources of the science and practice that sustains human life: agriculture. It strives to develop an understanding and appreciation of food and fiber production, especially among people not traditionally acquainted with agriculture. It was established in 1983 as the first annual arts competition and tour exhibit with an agricultural theme.
The Fields & Woodlands by W.E. Shumway exhibit will also be showing down the hall of the Murdock
Gallery. Bill was weaned on abstract expressionism in the
sixties but his training was rather traditional, with an emphasis
on drawing. The images, therefore, tend to move back and forth
from abstract to expressively representational.Thu, 04/03/2014 (All day) - Mon, 04/28/2014 (All day)Wed, 04/16/2014 - 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Simply RED Fiber Art Show
In terms of the title of the show “Simply Red”. The backstory is High Fiber Diet decided last fall to mount a show about every year based on a different color. Red was chosen as the first color, thus it is our first show in the series. Members then voted on suggested titles, and Simply Red was selected. The decision to use a color rather than a theme is intended to give artists a range of design options/subject matter while tying the show together around a color.
Simply Red, the first of a multi-series show incorporates a range of design options, while tying the subject-matter to a cohesive color scheme.
The artwork accepted in this exhibition represents a diverse group of creative thinkers; with each artist dedicating many hours of work to each piece.
The design and composition are of particular interest to the three jurors, Una Kim, Ikie Nolan Kressel and Trisha Hassler, as well as the viewers. The selected pieces will create lively discussions between artist and viewer based on various artistic backgrounds.
“Ultimately we chose pieces that maintained their presence and spoke with a decisive voice,” stated the Jurying Committee. “We are happy with the diversity of design, technique and point-of-view this group of textiles includes, and are confident this will result in a strong, cohesive show.”Thu, 05/01/2014 - 8:00am - Fri, 05/30/2014 - 4:00pmMon, 05/05/2014 - 6:30pm - 8:30pmLight appetizers will be served.
