Six years ago Alexa moved to Corvallis and began her dream career by taking up photography, specifically, macro or close-up photographs of nature that caught her eye. Having suddenly become blind five years earlier, followed by two surgeries and a lengthy rehabilitation, this new path has held many challenges.
Working in the field or in her studio, she creates award-winning fine art photographs of flowers, fungi, small creatures, and small-scale landscape panoramas.
Included in this show is an enlarged version of a book she created in 2002 about a Santa Fe-style house in Oregon illustrated with manipulated Polaroid images.
This exhibit is her tribute to both her perseverance and to Oregon as all the photographs were taken in Oregon - from the coast to Central Oregon and many in her own yard.
The Artist's Reception will be from 5:30 - 8:00 PM on February 8 in Giustina Gallery.
