OSU's Microsoft License

Oregon State University participates in the Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions (ESS) program, which provides software and client access licenses for Microsoft software. ESS provides upgrade and downgrade rights for desktop operating systems and productivity suites. Additional software is available for specific departments.
Software addressed on this page is for installation on OSU owned computer equipment. Please contact your Department Computer Administrator (DCA) or department's Helpdesk for assistance in obtaining software.
Students interested in installing Microsoft Office on their personal systems should check with their college's Helpdesk to see if the college participates in the MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) program or check the MSDNAA Membership site. Other options are the OSU Book Store or TechHead.

License Restrictions
The basic Microsoft license covers all departments this year. Add-ons only cover those departments that participate in the individual enrollments each year. Enrollment is available in the fall. Media should be purchased through Dell, our offical Microsoft Reseller.
Faculty and staff have limited Home Use Rights and can review the Microsoft Home Use program for eligibility and software.
