Cell Phones

  • Employees must usually purchase their own equipment and services. Contact a carrier to establish a personal account.
  • Under special circumstances, a phone may be purchased by OSU if approved with signed authorization form (Excel file)
  • OSU may provide email connectivity for $10/month
  • Employees may apply for communications allowance (PDF). The monthly communication allowance amount is $20-$120 and must not exceed 85% of the employees monthly service amount. The allowance form must be signed by the Department Dean/VP or Director and sent to Network Services in Kerr Admin

If an employee currently has an OSU-provided smartphone, they may purchase the device from OSU. This purchase should be handled by each department.

Please note that Information Services will only support equipment purchased by OSU.

Blackberry users: A personally owned Blackberry must be associated with an Enterprise data package in order for the device to sync with OSU's Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES). The device must then be entered into OSU's BES. To set up a Blackberry on the BES, please contact OSU Telecom at 3-3465. All other smartphones will need an unlimited data package for constant email communication.

OSU Discounts from Cell Providers in Our Area

Employees must usually purchase their own equipment and services. The following providers offer discounts for the OSU community.

  • AT&T - 15% Discount; go to the AT&T Business Center or a local AT&T store. OSU Code: 2393971
  • Verizon Wireless - 15% percent discount; go to Verizon's discount page to sign up. You may also visit a local store or call 888-384-1778. OSU code: 559200
  • Sprint/Nextel -  Discount varies. OSU faculty and staff, please contact Sprint for information on discounts. OSU Students go to Sprint's Website for OSU Students.
  • T-Mobile - 15% discount; call 1-866-464-8662
