The ONID-FS Windows share, which provides access to ONID home directories for Windows clients, was unavailable from 9:02am to 9:50am today. The system was unable to resolve usernames during this time because the name service cache daemon stopped running.
I think this was related to the changes made to the ONID LDAP server SSL certificate. After the old SSL certificate was no longer available, ONID-FS could not establish new LDAP connections until I restarted the ldap_cachemgr process and the name service cache daemon. In hindsight, I could have restarted these services gracefully after configuring them for the new SSL certificate. It wasn’t obvious that they would fail to load the new SSL certificate chain without a restart.
