Services Maintained & Purpose of Maintenance: Tuesday May 7th at 6:30 am Network Services is planning to power cycle the enterprise VPN to solve a memory leak problem and prepare for an eventual code upgrade. The power cycle will take about 5 minutes and connected and newly connecting clients during that time may be disconnected or unable to login. However most users will not be affected as it will failover to the secondary VPN
Maintenance Window: Start: 05/07/2013 6:30 AM End: 05/07/2013 6:45 AM

The core network suffered an hardware failure around 2 AM this morning leaving some equipment in an unstable state. This resulted in a loss of service for the residential networks from 9:43 AM to 9:55 AM this morning when the failed equipment was removed from service.
The issue has been resolved and we do not expect further disruptions due to this incident.
Tomorrow morning at approximately 0630 I will be making a configuration change to the mail relays to allow for email address mapping to be split from one file into multiples.
No outage is expected, though there is a potential for brief mail delay if I make an error.

We received a bulletin of a few vulnerabilities in our current version of our operating system on our Nexus 5000s. To negate the vulnerabilities we will be upgrading the OS to a newer version.

On Saturday, May 4th at 2200 (10pm) in conjunction with NOC, we will be adding vlan 479 onto the port channel of the Netscalers. This change will not result in any interruption of service nor will it be noticeable to end users.
The standby device will have the vlan added first, then made to be the primary. It will then have the vlan defined on it. Once the addition had been verified to not have any negative effects the vlan will be added to the now standby Netscaler trunk port. It will then be made primary again and tested.
In the event of failure changes will be rolled back.

On Tuesday April 30th at 2200 (10:00pm) we will be modifying the SSL cert for secure.oregonstate.edu. This is not a simple cert renewal, this is a new cert that has a Subject Alternative Name (SAN) for oregonstate.edu. End users will not be affected.
The risk for this change is extremely small as we have been able to test in dev. After the update CWS and the Server Support Team will verify the new cert.
In the event of any problems a rollback to the old cert will be performed.
Any further communication will be done via http://blogs.oregonstate.edu/sig
