CIEE: Tanzania University of Dar es Salaam
Students operate from the base at the CIEE center at the University of Dar es Salaam. The University of Dar es Salaam is a major East African university, with major areas of concentration in aquatic sciences, engineering, media studies, liberal arts and humanities, sciences, biological and zoological science.
Dar es Salaam is a bustling equatorial city on the Indian Ocean with a population of 2.5 million. It is Tanzania's center of commerce and government, despite not being the official capital. Dar es Salaam's proximity to Zanzibar and its history with the rise of the Swahili culture make it an historic and culturally significant location.
Tanzania is the home of some of the most famous natural wildlife regions in Africa, including the Serengeti, Mt. Kilimanjaro, a major coral reef, the Great Rift Valley, three of Africa's largest lakes, and the Ngorongoro crater. Often referred to as "Africa in a microcosm," Tanzania's unparalleled natural beauty and ethnic diversity make for a compelling and rich destination.
2.75 GPA and sophomore standing.
