Cosmopolitan and cultural but also laid back, this stunningly beautiful area is an ideal place to immerse yourself in an authentic culture that still incorporates ancient pre-hispanic elements. Once an independent republic, the Yucatán still considers itself culturally and historically separate from Mexico.
