Kyoto, Japan:
The Imadegawa campus is located on the site where Doshisha was founded in 1875. The campus buildings of the Meiji era are designated as cultural properties of national importance, yet harmonize with the modern buildings on the campus which were constructed in the Taisho and early Showa eras. These buildings stand as a living museum, a testament to the history and development of university education in Japan through the years from the Meiji era to the present day. About 12,000 students now study on this campus, which has a total area of 82,000 m².
This Kyotanabe campus was established in 1986. On the vast campus, which covers 790,000 m², are a number of modern school buildings equipped with advanced experimental and educational facilities. Their exterior walls are uniformly covered with brick tiles, which enable them to exist in harmony with the beautiful surrounding scenery. The campus houses the Learned Memorial Library incorporating a multi-media library, as well as a building for the Faculty of Engineering equipped with experimental facilities still rare in Japan, such as an NMR room, a clean room and an anechoic room. About 13,000 students now study on this campus.
