Host Institution:
Lorenzo de'Medici School
Location:
Located in the region of Tuscany, Florence has long been described as a "flower" or a "pomegranate tree," bringing to mind images of fertility, lush new life, and beauty. Florence has been all of these things for centuries, and despite tragedies of plague, fire, flood, and famine, the city has endured as a center of the arts. Florence is situated on the banks of the Arno River, surrounded by hills of rolling Italian countryside. To study and live in florence is to walk the streets of Dante, Brunelleschi, Giotto, and many more contributors to the arts and humanities.
