The University of Hyderabad, over twenty-five years old, was the first federally funded university to be established in the southern part of India. The University has over 200 faculty and 2,100 full-time students in eight schools: chemistry; life sciences; mathematics and computer & information sciences; physics; humanities; social sciences; management studies; performing & fine arts; and communication. The campus is located approximately 30-45 minutes from the downtown area by public transportation affording students a more tranquil environment outside of the city center to learn about student life in Andhra Pradesh.
Hyderabad is the fifth largest city in India and is at the heart of India’s rapidly developing global economy. The newly coined “Cyberabad” area, the IT-outsourcing hub that contains the famous “Hitech City”, has brought much attention to Hyderabad in recent years. Good public transportation makes Hyderabad an excellent base from which to visit other areas of the country. The language of the state is Telugu, but in Hyderabad, Urdu is widely spoken, and people are comfortable with Hindi. English is also spoken by large numbers of college-educated people.
Overall GPA of 3.0. Junior standing.
