Sally Procious Malueg Study-Abroad Scholarship 2007-2008 Academic Year

The Sally Procious Malueg Scholarship Fund was established to honor Sally Malueg on her retirement, and to help students studying or participating in internships in other countries. The scholarship will be awarded in 2007-2008 in the amount of $500.00 to a student with a major in French, German or Spanish, or a minor in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian or Spanish. The scholarship may be used to offset tuition for an OSU, NCSA or OUS study-abroad program of at least one term or in an independent study or internship program/project abroad approved by the department and the student's major advisor.

Eligibility
Students may apply if, by the end of Winter Term, they will have completed a minimum of 30 hours at OSU with a minimum 3.00 GPA, and a minimum of 6 upper-division credit hours in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures, in courses taught in a language other than English and with a minimum 3.25 GPA. The scholarship must be used during 2007-2008 (Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer terms).

Application
Applicants must submit an application form (available in Kidder 210), a 1-2 page narrative statement describing their intended study-abroad program/project, its relevance to their academic and career goals, and three letters of recommendation from OSU faculty or other individuals capable of assessing the applicant's academic merit.

Stipulations
The recipient must agree to enroll in at least one upper-division course in the Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures during each term (excluding Summer Term) between the time of the award and its intended use. In addition, the recipient will be required to submit a brief report to the Department Chair upon completion of the study-abroad program or project.

Application Deadline
The application form, the student's statement, and the three letters of recommendation must be received by the Department Chair on or prior to Deadline (April 2007). Please check with the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures in Kidder 210 for more information.
