OSU Study Abroad Program Deadlines

Deadlines for OSU Study Abroad Programs:

  • Summer Programs: March 15
  • Fall, Year-Long Programs: April 15
  • Winter/Spring Semester Programs: October 15
  • Spring Term Programs: November 15

Many programs will have alternative deadlines or may grant deadline extensions...check with your program advisor for specifics.

Application Fee: 

All study abroad and internship applicants are required to pay an application fee. See the Application Fee page for details.

Letters of Reference: 

No reference letters are required to apply for this program. 

Required Essays: 

Three essays are required in this application.

Complete the following essays and submit them to osu.scandinavia.11@oregonstate.edu by the February 15th deadline.

1. Please write a brief autobiographical sketch that includes your personal history, family background, work experience, travel experience and other factors which have influenced your personal development. (approximately 1-2 pages)

2. Please state how your participation in this international program will contribute you your educational, career and personal goals. (approximately ½ page)

3. All participants have personal strengths and weaknesses. Please give yours and describe how they are relevant to your participation in this international program. (approximately ½ page)

Order one transcript from each institution you have attended and have earned 15 credits or more.

OSU official transcripts can be ordered through the OSU Online Services student account or through the Office of the Registrar.

Health Disclosure: 

All students are required to return this form to the program coordinators after they are accepted into the program. See the Health Disclosure Form page for details.

Academic Planning Form: 

All students are required to complete this form with the assistance of their academic advisors after they are accepted into the program. The form is for your records. See the Academic Planning Form page for details.

Passport: 

A passport valid for six months beyond your program is required. Apply for a passport immediately if you have not done so already. Visit travel.state.gov for an application.

Attend General Orientation: 

All students are requested to attend general pre-departure orientation with all students going abroad from OSU. View orientation dates and registration. The date for the orientation session occuring in Spring term will be available February 1st.

Attend Site-Specific Orientation: 

All participants are required to enroll in the 2 credit seminar in the Spring 2011 (WSE 599.)

Travel Clinic: 

All students are encouraged to visit their primary care provider before going abroad. Information about immunizations and travel health can be obtained from the Travel Medicine Clinic at Student Health Services.

Insurance: 
Your program enrolls you in insurance for the duration of your participation. Review the insurance policy and carry additional claim forms and your insurance card with you abroad.
Registration: 
IDEA will provide you with a CRN to register yourself for 6 credits for this program. To be registered, your account must be free of any hold, and your OSU bill balance must be below $2,200. Your Financial Aid WILL NOT BE RELEASED until you have registered yourself with this CRN.
Grades and Credits: 
This program earns resident credit at OSU. Your instructors will provide your grade to the registrar after the completion of the program.

File FAFSA and apply for financial aid for the term(s) of your program.

IDEA will submit a financial aid budget with your estimated cost of attendance to the Office of Financial Aid the term prior to your departure so that your aid award may be adjusted.
