All OSU students are required to complete the OSU Online Study Abroad Application. By completing this online application, a non-refundable, $50 application fee will be charged to your OSU student account.

OSU Australia Deadlines

Winter term/Spring Semester: October 1

Summer/Fall: February 15

Application Fee:

All study and internship applicants are required to pay an application fee. See the Application Fee page for details.

Transcript:

Order an official transcript to be sent to your study abroad advisor or program coordinator by the application deadline. Your program may require an additional official transcript if you are enrolling at a university abroad.

Order one transcript from each institution you have attended and have earned 15 credits or more.

OSU official transcripts can be ordered through the OSU Online Services student account or through the Office of the Registrar.

Program Provider Application:

1. Download the Charles Sturt University Application (PDF).

2. Bring a blank application form to the interview with Dawn Moyer.

3. After interview, meet with your academic advisor to select classes.

Submit the following to the IDEA Australia coordinator:

Completed Charles Sturt application form
300-word statement of purpose outlining your academic career and motivations for study abroad
Current, official academic transcript
Descriptions of previous subjects studied that match CSU prerequisites

Passport:

A passport valid for six months beyond your program is required. Apply for a passport immediately if you have not done so already. Visit travel.state.gov for an application.

Required Essays:

Three essays are required to be submitted by the application deadline.

Interview:

You will be contacted to schedule a 30-minute interview as soon as your application materials have been received. Off-site students will be interviewed by phone.

Health Disclosure:

All students are required to return this form. See the Health Disclosure Form page for details.

Academic Planning Form:

All students are required to complete this form. See the Academic Planning Form page for details.

Attend General Orientation:

All students are required to attend general pre-departure orientation. View orientation dates and registration.

Insurance:

Your program enrolls you in insurance for the duration of your participation. Review the insurance policy and carry additional claim forms and your insurance card with you abroad.

Visa:

You are required to obtain a student visa in order to study in Australia. You will receive instructions from the OSU program coordinator and Charles Sturt University on the visa process.

In general, the steps will be:
1. Be accepted by OSU and then by Charles Sturt University.
2. Complete Australian acceptance form and pay requested fees.
3. Receive Confirmation of Enrollment number from Charles Sturt University.
4. Apply online for Australian student visa.

Travel Clinic:

All students are encouraged to visit their primary care provider before going abroad. Information about immunizations and travel health can be obtained from the Travel Medicine Clinic at Student Health Services.

File FAFSA and apply for financial aid for the term(s) of your program.

IDEA will submit a financial aid budget with your estimated cost of attendance to the Office of Financial Aid the term prior to your departure so that your aid award may be adjusted.

Registration:

All study abroad students will need to register for general Overseas Studies credits using the OSU online registration system and a PIN from their academic advisor. IDEA will send students an e-mail from abroad.registration@oregonstate.edu with the instructions and CRN, and students are responsible for registering for these credits for the term(s) they are abroad. You will not receive financial aid for the program unless you are registered. To be registered, your account must be free of any hold, and your OSU bill balance must be below $2,200.

Grades and Credits:

This program earns resident credit at OSU. Each course you take must be assessed for how the credit will be applied to your degree program. Save all coursework and syllabi while you are abroad and work with your study abroad advisor to establish your course equivalencies when you return.
