OSU Doshisha University Exchange Program Application Checklist

All OSU students are required to complete the OSU Online Study Abroad Application. By completing this online application, a non-refundable, $50 application fee will be charged to your OSU student account.

OSU Doshisha Exchange Program Application Deadlines

*March 1 for Fall/Winter semester
*October 15 for Spring/Summer semester and Japanese academic year (Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter)

Transcript: 

Order an official transcript to be sent to your study abroad advisor or program coordinator by the application deadline.
OSU official transcripts can be ordered through the OSU Online Services student account or through the Office of the Registrar.

Program Provider Application: 

Complete all of the following forms, put everything together in a large envelop, and turn it in by the deadline to the exchange coordinator in the IDEA office. Visit the Doshisha website for more information.

1. Doshisha University exchange application
2. Japanese language proficiency certificate (to be completed by your Japanese instructor)
3. Housing application
4. Financial guarantee form
5. Health certificate (to be completed by your physician)

Passport: 

A passport valid for six months beyond your program is required. Apply for a passport immediately if you have not done so already. Visit travel.state.gov for an application.

Email a scanned copy of your passport photo page to the exchange coordinator in IDEA office.

Interview: 
Upon submitting all of your exchange application materials, you will need to meet with the exchange coordinator for a short, informal interview. This should be completed within a week after you turn in your application materials. Call the front desk to make an appointment with the exchange coordinator: 541.737.3006.
Health Disclosure: 

All students are required to return this form. See the Health Disclosure Form page for details.

Academic Planning Form: 

All students are required to complete this form. See the Academic Planning Form page for details. This is a tool for you to use to keep a written record of how your study abroad credits can be used to fulfill your degree requirements at OSU.

Attend General Orientation: 

All students are required to attend general pre-departure orientation. View orientation dates and registration.

Insurance: 
Your program enrolls you in insurance for the duration of your participation. Review the insurance policy and carry additional claim forms and your insurance card with you abroad.
Visa: 

Once you are officially accepted to the exchange program, you will be provided with the visa application process. If you do not have a valid passport, or if your passport is going to expire within 6-8 months, you should be applying for a new passport now.

Travel Clinic: 

All students are encouraged to visit their primary care provider before going abroad. Information about immunizations and travel health can be obtained from the Travel Medicine Clinic at Student Health Services.

File FAFSA and apply for financial aid for the term(s) of your program.

IDEA will submit a financial aid budget with your estimated cost of attendance to the Office of Financial Aid the term prior to your departure so that your aid award may be adjusted.

Students are encouraged to apply for the JASSO scholarship by completing the following form and submitting it to the exchange coordinator in IDEA. -> JASSO application

Registration: 
All study abroad students will need to register for general Overseas Studies credits using the OSU online registration system and a PIN from their academic advisor. IDEA will send students an e-mail from abroad.registration@oregonstate.edu with the instructions and CRN, and students are responsible for registering for these credits for the term(s) they are abroad. You will not receive financial aid for the program unless you are registered. To be registered, your account must be free of any hold, and your OSU bill balance must be below $2,200.
Grades and Credits: 
This program earns resident credit at OSU. Each course you take must be assessed for how the credit will be applied to your degree program. Save all coursework and syllabi while you are abroad and work with your study abroad advisor to establish your course equivalencies when you return.
