Oregon State University

Housing

Students will be housed in AUBG's American style housing system. Students live in two residence halls that provide more than just a place to sleep. Each environment has its own community feeling and has been adapted to create a living/learning experience. All undergraduate students are required to live on campus as part of the University mission. Students from Blagoevgrad live at home as there is currently not enough space in campus housing. All residence halls have a shared television with DVD and Video player in a lounge, main desk telephones answered by receptionists and Resident Assistants, 24-hour guards, lounges, several study & socializing areas and computer labs with 15-20 Windows 2000 stations. Each residence hall has Resident Assistant peer advisors that live-in and assist students in building a community, promoting student activities, and crisis prevention. There are also 2 live-in Residence Hall Directors who are there to support the operations functions of the residence halls and assist the students who live there.

Skaptopara I and II are the first purpose built residence halls in Bulgaria. They include a smoke-free environment, are partially disability accessible, and were built with funding from USAID/ASHA. They house 800 students in double and triple rooms and suites.

Programming/activity areas include: aerobic rooms, two weight rooms, student party areas, piano practice rooms, a multipurpose room, billiard and ping pong areas, several television lounges, outside decks and a cafe. Each building has a token-operated laundry facility in the basement for student use that contains washing and drying machines.
