How did you decide to go to OSU?
My brother was an OSU student before me. He told me that he loved the school and the town and so I came here. I looked around for other Indonesian students and I found a good group of people. I enjoy it here.
What do you especially like about OSU and/or what have been your favorite experiences at OSU so far?
People are very friendly and open minded. The program here is very good and I thoroughly enjoy the faculty. I also enjoy the amazing people I have met from all over the world. It feels great to be here in a university where I can make relationships with people all over the world. One of my favorite experiences has been working for ISOSU (International Students of Oregon State University) as Internal Coordinator and now for PERMIAS, the Indonesian Student Association on campus. I have had a lot of leadership experiences here and lots of fun.
How has studying in the US and at OSU changed you?
I have learned a lot about my field of interest but more importantly about other people and cultures. I have learned a lot about different parts of the world and have met amazing people from all over. I have become a lot more aware of the world and the diversity within it.
How do you believe studying at OSU will help you in the future and impact your career plans?
Working for ISOSU (International Students of Oregon State University) has been a big growth and leadership experience which will help me in my career in the future. Also at OSU I have had good internship and work experiences in my field which will definitely help me in my career plans. It has given me the confidence and experience I need to do well in the future.
What advice do you have for future students?
I would advise students to not stay within their comfort zone and explore the opportunities available to them at OSU and Corvallis. I would advise them to get involved in activities and meet people from diverse backgrounds.
