Major:
Electrical Engineering, B.S.
Hometown:
Kampala, Uganda

Favorite activities: Participating in the International Cultural Service Program, involvement in the African Student Association, the National Society of Black Engineers, and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship

Favorite class: a math class that I took during my first year at OSU. I enjoyed the instructor so much that I enrolled in three more of her math classes. I also really enjoyed my "tekbots" class that introduced a hands-on learning methodology. I found it both fun and experimental.

Favorite place on campus: the many open spaces such as those in front of the Memorial Union (student union) Quad, and in front of the Valley Library

Favorite campus wide event: those the ISOSU (international students of OSU) host throughout the year. They really go out of their way to show their appreciation of different cultures!

Favorite thing brought from home: A pair of hand-crafted sandals from my region...they're made of special leather and shells.

Why you are here in the US and at OSU?
While finishing high school in my home country, I learned about an organization in the U.S. who's goal is to sponsor African students for leadership and training and I decided to apply.

Three things you love about OSU: How generous, kind and helpful people are; I'm impressed by the quality of the College of Engineering; just being here at OSU has given me the opportunity to learn about and experience so many cultures...I love Chinese and Japanese food especially.

Best Tip for Living in the U.S.: Go out of your way to try new things, there are so many opportunities and leadership positions available on the campus through student organizations that will challenge and benefit you.

How has studying in the U.S. changed you?
Made me realize am blessed and that I will have probably have the opportunity to act as a bridge between Ugandan and American culture or any other culture.

What was your favorite American experience?
The Thanksgiving holiday, and seeing families make a lot of effort to come together for one day.

What was your biggest challenge in coming to the U.S.?
Getting through the period of waiting during the admissions process, and the anxiety of going through the student visa interview.
