Analysis on the impacts of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Argentina and the United States is a topic covered in this thesis along with a description of the markets for natural and traditionally grown beef. Other interesting topics that are mentioned include promotional organizations, technology, markets, feed, economics and threats. All of these are essential variables to consider when a beef producer wants to understand and familiarize himself with some of the actions and problems of the developing international beef industry.
The knowledge one gains from this thesis could be used as a “stepping stone” to becoming more successful, productive, competitive, efficient and respected as a beef producer. With the significance of today’s more internationally based beef industry, it is wise that a beef producer understands foreign beef production systems, markets and his competitors. With more international knowledge, a beef producer would derive new strategies, plans, products of methods to make himself more competitive and successful. Perhaps this thesis could motivate a beef producer to better understand the international beef industry or point a beef producer in a successful direction. Success is what most people want. This thesis could perhaps be of interest especially as today’s beef industry becomes more internationalized.
