International Resource Center (IRC) Project

Welcome to the page regarding information and resources for the iniative to create an International Resource Center (IRC) in the proposed Student Leadership Building in the MU Annex.  When the MU Annex, also known as the Student Leadership Center, is constructed, the International Resource Center is slated to be part of this center (see image of plan below).

This initiative is now part of the ISOSU Campus Alliance for International Resources (ISOSU CAIR), a student-led initiative connected to ISOSU.  For more information about ISOSU CAIR, please visit the ISOSU CAIR website.

If you would like to see an example of an International Resource Center, please watch the brief video of the University of Oregon's Mills International Center.

Vision and Scope

Dear campus community,

Imagine you have your perfect space on campus. A space that welcomes you and embraces diversity. A space for internationally-minded and culturally curious students, faculty, community members and groups. A space where you can visit the world by walking across a room...a space that encourages internationalism and welcomes it.

CAIR has been given approval to have an International Resource Center for Winter 2009 term in the MU Learning Lounge on Tuesdays-Thursdays from 2 pm - 7 pm, and for the long-term in the proposed Student Leadership Building in the MU Annex.

We need your help and involvement to make the International Resource Center (IRC) a vibrant and active space.  As this project develops, we would like your help as representatives of various student and campus groups to ask yourselves the above questions. I would even request you to forward these questions on to members of your group(s) to answer the following questions:

• How would you want this space to look and feel?
• What function do you see it serving?
• How would you utilize it if you had access to a space like the International Resource Center (IRC)?
• As students and community members, how would it benefit you to have an international resource center at the center of the OSU campus?

For a better sense of what students have already thought about in terms of what this center could do for OSU, please visit the “IRC_presentation.ppt” at http://web.engr.oregonstate.edu/~ravichra
