The Vice Provost serves as the senior associate to the Provost and Executive Vice President, and acts in the Provost’s absence. Given the close working relationship with the Provost, the Vice Provost is involved in all aspects of academic affairs, including academic budgeting and strategic planning, and serves as a member of the Cabinet and Provost’s Council. Special responsibilities include leadership in international programs, academic success programs, and academic personnel policy, including promotion and tenure, appointments and reappointments, sabbatical requests, and faculty awards and recognition. The Vice Provost actively promotes and encourages opportunities for women and minorities in academic programs and in all university personnel actions.

Profile: 
Dr. Rebecca L. (Becky) Johnson was appointed Interim Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and International Programs in June 2004 and was appointed permanently to the Vice Provost position in June 2005. She received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University. She has been at OSU for more than 20 years as an Assistant, Associate, and now full Professor in the Department of Forest Resources, College of Forestry. Her research has focused on estimating the economic values and impacts of non-market resources, including recreation and tourism, fish and wildlife, and biodiversity. Prior to her current appointment, she served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and International Programs in the College of Forestry. From 1990 to 2003, she served on the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors. She was also the Chair of the OSU 2007 Steering Committee, which led the development of the OSU Strategic Plan.
