Profile:

Chris Bennett has served the IE3 Global Internships program as the Africa Regional Director since March of 2006. In this capacity, he is responsible for developing and coordinating internship opportunities across the African continent and supporting students throughout their internship experiences.

Chris spent the last six years studying and working in the field of international development. Most recently he worked for Pact, an international NGO based in Washington, DC. As a member of Pact's Capacity Building Services Group, Chris worked with local development organizations throughout Africa, helping to build their organizational and managerial capacity through assessment, training, mentoring, and other technical support. Chris has also worked for the Government Relations and Policy Program at the Africa-America Institute where he helped facilitate dialogue between Africans and Americans on pertinent policy issues such as HIV/AIDS and trade regulations.

Chris has a B.A. in Sociology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and an M.A. in International Development from American University's School of International Service in Washington, DC. As a student, Chris studied abroad in Zimbabwe and France, and interned with a local community development organization in Ethiopia. It was these experiences abroad that motivated him to study and work in international development and which now motivate him to help others experience the joy and excitement of living, working, and learning in Africa.
