The following information is ONLY for international students who have been nominated by their home institution to participate in the Oregon University System reciprocal exchange program.  If you are not sure if you meet this qualification, please check the list of the overseas partner universities.

All applications should be sent with the endorsement of your home institution.  Any applications sent independently will not be considered.

DEADLINES:

The deadline for submission of application materials is February 15th for the Fall term and October 15th for the Winter and Spring terms.  Graduate programs and some University of Oregon majors may have an earlier deadline.  See "Fields of Study" tab for more information.

Upon submission of your application and all supporting materials, you should expect the evaluation and processing time to take at least 30 to 60 days.  Upon acceptance, you will be sent a DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility, which you then take to the US Embassy in your home country to apply for a J-1 Exchange Visitor visa.

All applications need to contain the following documents:

  1. An OUS Application for Exchange Students.  This form may be dowloaded from this link or obtained from the International office, resident director, or overseas contact.  It must be fully completed and signed. Do not send this form directly to the OUS office. Fill it out (either electronically or printed very clearly), sign it, and turn it in with your other application materials to your International Office/Resident Director.

  1. An OUS Course Preference form. To complete this form you will need to go to the "Schedule of Classes" tab to like to the class schedules. Keep in mind that form tells us what you are interested in taking. It is not a registration form. Also, take note of prerequisites and special fees as you are looking at the schedules.
  2. In addition to the application and course preference form, each university requires slightly different supporting documents, click on the name of the institution below to review the Institutional Information Sheet for that school.
