Eunice Naswali, a senior in electrical engineering from Kampala, Uganda, and her mentor, Chris Bell, associate dean in the College of Engineering, are featured in the summer issue of Terra and the new OSU Mentors Web site. Bell's family volunteered through Crossroads International, a community organization in the Office of International Programs, to welcome Naswali to the United States in 2004. With his encouragement, Naswali has pursued internships in the Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP)—experience she hopes will help her in a future career back in Uganda, tackling the country’s problems with power generation and distribution to remote areas. Naswali has also served as a cultural ambassador in the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP).
