| Abstract | The purpose of this project is to gather information about the present state of legislation protecting mangrove forest habitat in Latin America and the United States. An objective of this project is to provide examples of legislation concerned with environmental protection in Latin American and the United States, in order to determine the basic governmental framework and political entities involved. Another objective of this project is to determine if legislation has been created to provide specific protection to mangrove forest ecosystems in Latin American countries and the United States and to identify what kinds of legal or legislative responses encourage good regulation and protection of mangrove forests. Finally the role of Non-Governmental Agencies and their influence on legislation is addressed. |
