Health Insurance is mandatory for all international students (F-1 and J-1), J-1 Scholars, J-1 Trainees, and their J-2 and F-2 dependents. This insurance must include sickness, accident, medical evacuation, and repatriation insurance in effect for the duration of their stay in the US. It is strongly recommended that all international employees carry health insurance. Insurance coverage should be secured PRIOR to arrival in the United States.
See above link for the specific amounts of coverage required by the Department of State.
Health Services and Insurance
Oregon State University requires all international students on F-1 and J-1 visas and their accompanying dependents to maintain medical insurance coverage throughout their stay in the United States. Learn more at Student Health Services and Health Insurance for International Students.
Please note: There are legal and University immunization requirements regarding Tuberculosis (TB) and Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR). Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles), rubella (German measles), and mumps must be provided prior to registration for classes. Learn more at Immunization Requirements.
If you would like to prepare to meet these requirements in advance of your arrival to OSU, you may complete the Health History Form from the Health Services website. For additional questions about immunization requirements, contact the Immunization Coordinator by phone (541-737-7573) or e-mail email@example.com.
