SEVIS Fee Changes for New F-1 and J-1 Students and Exchange Visitors on October 27
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) transmitted a final rule on September 26, which adjusts the SEVIS I-901 fees for foreign citizens seeking to become F or M academic or vocational students, or J exchange visitors.
The new SEVIS fees will go into effect October 27, 2008, for any F-1 or J-1 student with an initial Certificate of Eligiblity (I-20 or DS-2019). The SEVIS fee for F-1 applicants will go from $100 to $200, and for J-1 applicants from $100 to $180.
This fee change will not affect students who are already here in the United States on continuing I-20s and DS-2019s.
