Ecampus Schedule for BB 451/551 Winter Term, 2014

(Note - this is the page for the Ecampus version of BB 451/551. The ECAMPUS version is different and should not be used by CLASSROOM students, nor should the CLASSROOM version be used by ECAMPUS students) The syllabus is required reading in this course. Download it HERE.

Please note that this course uses an optional FREE textbook called "Biochemistry Free and Easy" (BFE) that I co-wrote with Indira Rajagopal. Version 2.0 has been released and you can get it HERE

Technical Notes - You should use the YouTube videos for viewing and the iTunes U videos (identical, but lower resolution) for downloading. The streaming audio files (.mp3) should load onto an iPod if first put into iTunes.

The exam format in BB 451/551 for ecampus is exactly the same as the format used in BB 450/550 for ecampus - multiple choice. I do not provide practice exams for multiple choice exams, since the format is simple and I do not recommend study strategies using old exams because they usually lead students astray - things change from one term to the next.

Exam I

This exam must be started and completed within a window that begins on January 22 at 8:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific time and ends at 5:00 p.m. U.S. Pacific time on January 24.

After the exam window has completely closed, I will provide students with access to their answers and the correct answers to the exam.

Exams in this course are simple multiple choice, so for this reason I do not provide practice exams.

Comprehensive Final Exam

This exam must be started and completed within a window that begins on March 17 at 8:00 a.m. U.S. Pacific time and ends at 5:00 p.m. U.S. Pacific time on March 19.

On this exam ONLY, students are allowed to bring and use one 5x8 inch notecard with hand-filled notes (both sides). Everything on the card must be handwritten by the student - not figures pasted on or anything taped to the card. The notecard does not have to be obtained from me.

After the exam window has completely closed, I will provide students with access to their answers and the correct answers to the exam.

This exam will have 40-50 questions (30-40% on material since the last exam) and you will have 110 minutes to take the exam.
