PTE Program Coordinator I worked
as a computer business applications software analyst, designer,
project leader, and director of data processing in industry from
1965 to 1978. After getting my B.A. and M.A. from UCLA, I taught computer information
systems, systems design, & automated accounting at the
community college and university level. At the same time I worked as a consultant with both large and small companies; selecting and installing hardware, implementing accounting systems, and training users. I have also done trouble-shooting on large and small computer and automated accounting
systems. I received my PhD from the School of
Education in June, 2000; focusing on the design, development and delivery of
web courses, as well as learning theory, and the
impact of computers on the learning environment.
Language Arts Program Coordinator
I have been an educator for 34 years. I
taught secondary and middle level English
language arts for 26 years before coming
to Oregon State University in 1993 as the
field supervisor for the Master of Arts in
Teaching in English Education. Now I
teach methods courses, lead seminars,
and coordinate the licensure program for
English Language Arts in the School of
Education. I am
particularly interested in project-based
learning, collaborative teaching, and
professional development for in-service
teachers. I am excited by the challenges
of teaching and learning in a
standards-based environment.
