Journal 4
Due 2.12
This Journal entry should focus on your
reading of the classic text assigned for this week. These readings
are different from many other types of texts. they are not primarily
designed to transfer information (e.g. facts and figures). They are
written with the purpose of exploring a philosophical problem, clarifying
certain concepts, and providing reasoning in support of a position.
You will find that these works tend to examine more than one position.
You will have to make a judgement about which position is being supported
by the author and why.
Now select your Framework from the links
below and read the specific instructions for this text and journal
entry:
For this week you are reading an article
by philosopher Peter Unger, A
Defense of Skepticism. For this journal please read the peice
and jot some notes on how it affects you and relates to your own beliefs.
Then, read the peice again carefully. Look for the main claims and
the reasoning the participants provide for them. What do you think
is the main problem that these thinkers are exploring? Write your
impressions of this work and author and submit as your Journal entry
for the week.
