Gateway quizzes are brief, short-answer skill tests. No calculators are permitted on Gateway quizzes. Gateways are Pass/Fail, administered first during recitations. At most two re-takes will be allowed; re-takes will be administered in the MLC. A Pass is awarded for 9 or more correct answers out of 10 questions. The first Gateway deals with basic properties of elementary functions. The second Gateway treats differentiation of elementary functions.

| Gateway 2 | Differentiation | Thur 4 Nov in recitation |
Weekly activities will be assigned either in class, in Blackboard, or in recitation. They will be collected and returned in recitation. These may include quizzes, homework assignments, or group laboratory activities.
Course Grades will be computed as follows. The Midterm and Final Exams are worth 100 points each. The weekly activities are worth 50 points in total. Each Gateway Quiz is worth 25 points. When all scores are in, I will write down the two Midterm Scores and I will write down the Final Exam score twice. Of these four numbers, I will drop the lowest, and add the other three for a Total Exam Score out of a possible 300. To this number I will add the Weeklies score (50 possible) and the Gateway scores (0 or 25 for each). The result is a Final Point Total with a maximum possible score of 400. Course grades will be assigned on a curve based on this Final Point Total. The curve will not be tougher than a straight scale, so 90% gets at least an A-, 80% gets at least a B-, and so on. You must score at least 50% of the maximum on the Final Point Total to pass the course, but 50% is not guaranteed to pass.
Your grades will be posted in Blackboard; you can contact your professor or GTA about these at any time.
