Shelton, C. M. (1999). The Multiple Ways of Teaching and Learning.
Educational Leadership, 54-57.
For my second annotated bibliography I read The Multiple Ways
of Teaching and Learning. Since this class is based on multicultural
education I thought it would be interesting to read about education in
a third world nation, and how it differs from our own. This article
was about a group of education consultants for the UNICEF who were asked
to help train educators from Bangladesh in brain based teaching theories.
The article focused on the very sad and poor state that the Bangladesh
schools are in and how the latest research on brain based learning and
multiple intelligence will be very practical implications for Bangladesh’s
education program. The consultants and teachers had specific goals
for the program, one of which was to positively affect the quality of primary
education and learning methods and to improve school environment.
1) Is the brain-based theory in implementation through out Bangladesh?
2) Is the new education policy having an effect on enrollment and success
in Bangladesh schools?
3) In comparison to our K-5 grades, where does Bangladesh rank?
4) Does not having a multi-rich classroom severely affect the brain
based theories and strategies for implementation?
5) How much, if any, improvement has been made because of brain based
theory in the Bangladesh education system?
