Muse, D. (1999, Spring).  A conversation with Daphne Muse: New voices, new visions.  Teaching Tolerance, 11-15.

Daphne Muse is a writer, editor and scholar of multicultural children's literature.  Muse spoke with Teaching Tolerance director Jim Carnes by phone from her home in Oakland, California.  Muse answers difficult questions such as "How do you respond to the view that multiculturalism is really all about tribalism and dividing people into special-interest camps?" and "What makes multiculturalism more than just another passing educational and publishing trend?".  Her responses are both thought provoking and well-supported.  Many literary works of authors of color are cited, as well as her own, including Muse's critical commentaries on more than 1,000 books from The New Press Guide to Multicultural Resources for Young Readers, The New Press.
