This film chronicles the promises and pitfalls of the imaginary ability of scientists to clone dinosaurs from DNA found in ancient organic matter.  It begins with horrific scenes of the experiment gone bad and then it gets worse.  One thread running through the plot is the conversation of the "chaotician" about the inevitability of disorder entering the system no matter how controlled it seems to be.

 I chose this film because I used to be fascinated by dinosaurs and because everybody else was watching it and I did not want to be left out.  Also, I think the underlying chaos theory connection is important to my understanding of teaching.

I have several questions from the watching the film:

• When the girl in the film was sneezed on by the dinosaur, was that to prepare us for some scene in a sequel?
• Why do characters always end up in precarious situations at just the right time, like the boy on the electrified fence?
• Would a scientist really dig that deeply into dinosaur dung?
• Why was the thread of reflections by the chaotician that was so clear in the book lost in the movie?
• Once I listened to the sound track without watching it and it was incredibly tense; so why would such a horror film be billed as somewhat cute to attract very young children?
