Caldwell, G. P. & Ginther, D. W. (1996).  Differences in learning

styles of low socioeconomic status for low and high achievers.

Education, 117(1), 141-146.

This article deals with the differences in learning styles among
students of low socioeconomic status.  The article includes learning
styles among both low and high achievers to find why and how they each
learn.  I chose this article in order to try and learn a little bit more
about what motivates various types of learners and how to best
facilitate their learning.

Five Questions
1) Has the author found any major differences between the way students
of low socioeconomic status learn and students of high socioeconomic
status learn?

2) In which ways does learning change through various age ranges, i.e.
how does learning style change from childhood into adolescence?

3) How can we, as teachers, best learn to recognize the learning styles
of these students and increase the students learning capability?

4) What did the author find to be the main motivational factors behind
the learning styles of the students he researched?

5) How can teachers learn to ignore the socioeconomic status of students
and just teach to the person?  Or is this a very important factor in a
students education?
